When I was in school I was able to attend different conferences and one of those included TYPO San Francisco in 2011, their first year in the states! I was so inspired and all I wanted to do was create type and letters. I even met with Jessica Hische, queen of cool letters, face to face and let me tell you. She. Is. Gorgeous! and oh so talented! The conference was so inspirational that I have decided to do some hand lettering myself.

Sayings, words, lyrics, everything just sounds so beautiful. LOOKS so beautiful.  Even though they were already art on their own, I decided to make them visually rad.

I started with what I was taught in school. Some french curves, circle template, t-square but have slowly grown into free handing and feel more comfortable doing so. I go headfirst with my pens until something amazing happens and my strokes make art.

Look! It's Jessica Hische! I walked the opposite direction of traffic on the stairs because she was walking down and I was walking up. I'm sure some people were upset, but it's not everyday you meet such a talented person.
